Shiatsu – in conversation with body, mind & soul
It is easy to get lost, or to never really arrive and keep running. Shiatsu can help, pause, slow down, as to leave space to start feeling yourself. It can help finding your own ground, creativity, intuition and your own voice.
It’s normal and human to swing in and out of deeper connection with ourselves. I can assist you in (re)connecting to those spaces inside that are not so easy to feel because of trauma, anxiety, stress, or just life. Feel welcome to book an appointment or write me with questions.
What is shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a manual holistic form of therapy, literally meaning ‘finger pressure’. Originally stemming from Japan and the old China, it uses thumbs and hands, elbows and knees to give pressure, rotations and stretches. Its nature is deeply caring and it stimulates the vital energy of the body, named Ki or Qi.
Shiatsu is in general deeply relaxing and it awakens the self-healing power of the body and thus is suitable for all sorts of conditions - physically, emotionally and spiritually. It can be supportive in all phases of your life, for example with stress, burn-out, menstrual and hormone related, sleep, trauma or emotional swings. It is valuable for self growth and finding your path and expression. Preventive and without complaints you are also very welcome.
With my support you travel to conscious and still unconscious places in your body where you can become aware of tension and flow. When we listen with soft eyes, our body tells us so much. We don’t need to know for now, we already know.
You receive shiatsu with clothes on, on a thick cotton mat - a futon.
Wear easy and clean clothes (there is room to change), in which you can be moved freely.
In a short intake there is time to share what is relevant for you - physically, emotionally and/or spiritually - to get an idea of your wishes and potential condition, injuries or inquiries. After the session there is time for feedback if that feels suitable to you.
During the session you lay on the mat. Feel free to say something if that feels right.
Preventive you could choose to come every four to six weeks. When your body needs to reset it is advisable to come more often for a period of time.
A heavy meal before the session is not advisable.
Drink enough water after the session to expel toxins.
I advise to take it easy after the session, at least for an hour after. The process within is still going. You may feel the effects right away and possibly a couple days after.
After the treatment you may feel relaxed and slow or energetic. It is possible symptoms get worse before they get better. Something is activated, toxins are being released en the body is recalibrating. There is movement - that is good sign. Good to share this the next session.
